After the tragic death of her fiancé, Grace McConnell turns to the only remaining constant in her life, her work. So when she's offered the lead position for an international restoration project, she jumps at the chance to get away from her small town, full of John's memories.

Drew Tensley has always been a hard worker. Dedicated to his family and community, he put aside his own London career to take over the family business after his mother's terminal diagnosis. Five years later, he's ready to start living for himself when he literally runs into his hometown's newest architect.

Grace quickly discovers that traveling halfway across the world was the best decision she's ever made...until she meets Drew, a man whose personality and lifestyle are the exact opposite of John's, but whose face is the spitting image. Struggling with her own motivations and feelings, research uncovers secrets she isn't ready for; secrets that could ruin her second chance for true love.

Sometimes I will read a review and the reviewer will wonder if a good review is written by a relative of the author or someone she has paid, etc. There are times when I read a low star review and I have to wonder if the reviewer just likes to be the first one with a low review. I guess there is just something for everyone and there is no way we will all agree. That being said, I have to say this is the best story I have read in weeks. I read a lot, usually 4-8 hrs. a day. I read a lot of junk so when I get a really good story I like to tell others.

This story just hooked me from the beginning. It is now 2:15 in the morning and I just finished. I could not put it down. I thought the story line was interesting and had a lot of emotions running all through it. A young woman, 33, lost the love of her life in a fire, he died a hero as he was a firefighter and was doing a job he loved. He saved others, but he left her. She was devastated and depressed. When her company offered her the position of restoring a very old home in a small village outside of London, she jumped at the chance. She felt like a complete change would be the start of a new life and moving on. Waiting for her luggage to come off the plane she looks across at baggage claim and she sees her dead fiancé. She thinks she is going crazy. Then, buying groceries in her small village she sees the same man again. She really thinks she is losing her mind.

The story gets good as she meets him and realizes that he does look exactly like her dead fiancé. She is not sure what to do. However, he is very attracted to her and they start to see each other. Her assistant turns out to be her best friend and she tries to encourage the heroine to get on with her life.

There is good character development as these two start to see each other. It gets complicated as she compares him to John at every turn. The hero knows she had a fiancé and he passed, he just doesn't know that the looked exactly alike. The story takes a twist as they take a trip to Scotland together and more of his past comes out. She is starting to believe there is more than just a coincidence at work. This is a full length novel. It is a love story but there is a lot more to it. Twist and turns, ups and downs, it is quite entertaining. I'm not sure how anyone could say this was predictable. I wonder if they read the whole book!! It is a really good read as all this gets sorted out. I definitely recommend it. Great read. I loved it.

I was not paid for this review. I am not an author nor do I know one. I am not kin to this writer. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 2/20/17

Restoration (Audible Audio Edition) Kim Loraine Sophie King Books Reviews

Grace was devastated when she lost her love of five years. John was a firefighter and lost his life on the job. Their love didn’t dissolve, there was no deceit, no reason for it to not continue on with marriage and children. It was ripped from her, her future with him stolen.

Drew’s life used to be about money and prestige. He was a lawyer in London, working hard and living the life, married to Susan-a gorgeous bombshell. Well, that is until he walked in one day and found her “occupied” with one of his co-workers. That life, along with his marriage ended. That moment not only broke his heart, it destroyed him.

After moving across the globe to head up a restoration project, Grace comes face to face with Drew, a man who looks identical to John. The more time they spend together, the more her suspicions and feelings grow. Does she feel this way because he looks like John? He may look the same, but he is so different. As she uncovers secrets of the past, she is torn on what they will do to their growing relationship. Will he, or even-does she, trust in her feelings.

This is a wonderful book, one that is more than just the typical contemporary romance. This is a book about loss and grief, of truths and acceptance, of letting go and moving forward, of growth and loving again. Kim Loraine does an excellent job giving us an emotion, hopeful, and heartwarming tale. The book is well-written with great character development. The main theme was a little predictable, but there are twists and turns that kept it refreshing and unexpected. There is great detail, without going overboard, that paint a beautiful picture.

I am looking forward to more and can’t wait to get started on the next book, which is Valerie’s story.
I liked this story quite a lot. Grace was an architect that specialized in restoring historical buildings. She lived in Virginia but was sent to Braley, England to restore a historic building. She had been trying to cope with the sudden death of her boyfriend/almost fiance', John, and hoped that some time away would help in the healing. That was the plan until she saw her dead fiance' in Braley. Actually, the guy's name was Drew Tinsley but he could have been her boyfriend's double. They looked like identical twins. The more time she spent with Drew, the more she saw the differences and she began to fall in love with him. It was so weird that she had feelings for her someone who looked identical to John. She needed to tell Drew about John and how much they looked alike before he found out and wouldn't understand that she saw the difference and wasn't looking for a replacement for John. Would her secret destroy what she and Drew were beginning to have?

This book was well written but I had issue with the occasional f-bomb and descriptive sex scenes. That got a little tiresome for me.
I liked the storyline and the characters and, interested enough to read another in the series. I wasn't sure what to expect in tone and flow, or level of intimacy. The pace could have been a little faster but it wasn't so slow that the story dragged or made me want to quit reading. The intimacy was in the low-medium range -not too descriptive or crass in description. I was a little irritated by the lack of clear and smooth transitions in a few places (between characters and/or flashbacks and reflections), which caused minor confusion. Because of this, it felt like parts of the story were left out. If a stranger in a bookstore turned to me and asked if I'd recommend this book, I'd say "You'll enjoy it if you're looking for an easygoing and stress-free story. There are some sad challenges that are (mildly) addressed in the story, you'll definitely get your expected romance-genre's happily-ever-after".
